This Modern Slavery Statement is made by House Clearance Catford for the financial year ending 31 December 2025. It sets out the steps we take to identify, prevent, and address the risks of modern slavery and human trafficking within our operations and supply chains, in line with the Modern Slavery Act 2015.
House Clearance Catford provides professional house clearance and related services to residential and commercial customers in Catford and surrounding areas. Our operations rely on our own staff, subcontracted clearance teams, vehicle and equipment providers, and suppliers of waste management, recycling, and cleaning services. We recognise that elements of the property clearance and waste management sectors can carry higher risks of labour exploitation, particularly where subcontracting and temporary labour are used.
We operate a clear and uncompromising zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery and human trafficking. Any form of forced labour, servitude, debt bondage, child labour, or exploitation is strictly prohibited in our own business and in any organisation with which we work. Our zero-tolerance stance is communicated to employees, subcontractors, and suppliers at the outset of our relationship and reinforced through our contractual terms, onboarding documents, and ongoing engagement.
All staff are required to act ethically and with integrity in all business dealings, and to comply with our policies on modern slavery, anti-bribery, and fair treatment of workers. Breaches of these policies may result in disciplinary action, including termination of employment or contract, and potential reporting to relevant authorities.
We assess modern slavery risk by reviewing our operating model, our use of subcontractors, and the nature of services supplied to us, such as waste disposal and labour provision. Particular attention is given to any use of agency or temporary labour and any extended subcontracting chains. Before entering into new supplier or subcontractor relationships, we conduct proportionate due diligence to understand their labour practices, ownership structures, and compliance records.
We prioritise working with suppliers and partners who demonstrate clear commitments to ethical labour standards and who are willing to support our modern slavery objectives.
All key suppliers and subcontractors are expected to comply with our modern slavery requirements as a condition of doing business with House Clearance Catford. Our standard terms require suppliers to confirm that they do not engage in, or knowingly support, any form of modern slavery or human trafficking and that they in turn require the same from their own supply chains.
We carry out supplier audits on a risk-based basis. These audits may include requests for documentation relating to right to work checks, wage and working hour records, and health and safety practices, as well as site visits where appropriate. If a supplier fails to meet our standards or refuses reasonable audit requests, we may suspend or terminate the relationship.
We actively encourage the reporting of any concerns or suspicions about modern slavery or unethical labour practices connected with our business. Employees, subcontractors, suppliers, and members of the public can raise concerns confidentially with a senior manager by phone, email, or in writing. Reports will be treated seriously, investigated promptly, and handled sensitively, with protection for those who raise concerns in good faith.
No individual will suffer any retaliation or detrimental treatment for reporting a genuine concern about modern slavery, even if it is not subsequently substantiated.
We provide guidance and awareness information to relevant staff, particularly managers and those responsible for procurement and subcontractor management, so they understand the signs of modern slavery and how to respond if concerns arise. We aim to build understanding of risks within house clearance, waste handling, and associated services, and to promote a culture in which ethical behaviour and respect for human rights are expected as standard.
We are committed to continually improving our systems and controls to address modern slavery risks. We monitor the effectiveness of our measures through internal reviews, feedback from staff and suppliers, and the outcomes of audits and investigations.
This Modern Slavery Statement will be reviewed, updated where necessary, and approved by the leadership of House Clearance Catford on an annual basis to ensure it remains accurate, effective, and aligned with legal and best practice requirements.
