House Clearance Catford Terms and Conditions

These Terms and Conditions set out the basis on which House Clearance Catford provides house clearance and waste collection services. By booking a service, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. Please read them carefully before placing a booking.

1. Definitions

In these Terms and Conditions, the following expressions have the meanings set out below:

Customer means the individual or business ordering the service from House Clearance Catford.

Services means house clearance, waste removal, rubbish collection, bulky item removal, and any related services provided by House Clearance Catford.

Waste means any items, materials, or rubbish collected or removed as part of the Services.

Site means the property or premises where the Services are to be carried out.

2. Scope of Services

House Clearance Catford provides scheduled and one-off services for the removal of domestic and commercial waste, including but not limited to furniture, appliances, general household rubbish, and light garden waste. Any specialist removal, such as hazardous waste, requires prior written agreement and may be subject to additional charges and conditions.

The Customer is responsible for providing accurate information about the type, quantity, and location of waste to be collected so that House Clearance Catford can provide an appropriate quotation and vehicle allocation.

3. Booking Process

Bookings can be made by phone, email, or other communication channels as advised by House Clearance Catford. At the time of booking, the Customer will be asked to provide:

Full name and contact details.

Service address and any access details.

A description of the waste to be collected and the approximate volume or number of items.

Preferred date and time window for the service.

Any special requirements or restrictions, such as parking limitations or building access rules.

Following receipt of this information, House Clearance Catford will provide either a fixed price quote based on the information supplied or an estimate subject to confirmation following an on-site assessment. Bookings are not considered confirmed until the Customer has accepted the quotation and, where required, paid any applicable deposit.

4. Estimates and Quotations

All prices are provided in good faith based on the details supplied by the Customer. If, upon arrival at the Site, the nature or volume of waste differs significantly from the description provided, House Clearance Catford reserves the right to adjust the price accordingly before commencing work.

If a revised price is not accepted by the Customer, House Clearance Catford may cancel the service and charge a call-out or cancellation fee to cover reasonable costs, including travel time and administration.

5. Access and Parking

The Customer must ensure that House Clearance Catford has safe, reasonable, and lawful access to the Site for the duration of the service. This includes providing accurate details of any access codes, building entry rules, or security requirements that may affect the ability to perform the Services.

Parking arrangements are the responsibility of the Customer, unless otherwise agreed in writing. Any parking fees, permits, or fines incurred as a result of inadequate or inaccurate instructions from the Customer may be charged to the Customer.

6. Customer Responsibilities

The Customer must ensure that:

All items intended for collection are clearly identified and are within the agreed area for removal.

No hazardous or prohibited materials are presented for disposal unless previously disclosed and agreed as part of the Service.

The Site is reasonably safe for workers to access, with no known health and safety risks that have not been disclosed.

Any items that should not be taken are removed, separated, or clearly marked before the Service begins.

House Clearance Catford cannot be held responsible for the accidental removal of items that were not clearly separated or identified by the Customer as items not to be removed.

7. Exclusions and Prohibited Waste

Unless specifically agreed, Services do not include the collection or disposal of hazardous or specialist waste, including but not limited to:

Asbestos and materials containing asbestos.

Clinical or medical waste, including sharps.

Liquids such as paint, oil, fuel, chemicals, or solvents.

Gas bottles, cylinders, or pressurised containers.

Explosives or highly flammable substances.

Any waste classified as hazardous under UK legislation that House Clearance Catford is not licensed or authorised to carry.

If such materials are discovered during the Service, House Clearance Catford may refuse to handle them, adjust the quotation, or terminate the Service. Any costs or delays arising from undisclosed hazardous waste will be charged to the Customer.

8. Payments and Charges

All charges for Services will be confirmed to the Customer prior to the commencement of work. Prices may be based on factors such as volume, weight, labour time, vehicle load, recycling requirements, and disposal fees.

Unless otherwise agreed, payment is due on completion of the Service. House Clearance Catford accepts various payment methods as advised at the time of booking, which may include cash, bank transfer, or card payment.

Where a deposit is required, the booking will not be confirmed until the deposit has been received. Deposits may be non-refundable in certain circumstances, as set out in these Terms.

For business Customers with an agreed account, payment terms will normally be specified on the invoice. If payment is not received by the due date, House Clearance Catford may charge interest on overdue sums in accordance with applicable UK legislation and may suspend further Services until payment is made in full.

9. Cancellations and Rescheduling

The Customer may cancel or reschedule a booking by providing reasonable notice prior to the scheduled service time.

If the Customer cancels more than 24 hours before the agreed time, any deposit paid may be refunded or applied to a future booking at the discretion of House Clearance Catford.

If the Customer cancels with less than 24 hours notice, or fails to provide access to the Site at the scheduled time, House Clearance Catford reserves the right to charge a cancellation fee, which may include the loss of any deposit and an additional call-out charge to cover wasted time and travel costs.

House Clearance Catford will use reasonable efforts to accommodate requests to reschedule. However, rescheduling is subject to availability and may not always be possible on short notice.

10. Delays and Force Majeure

House Clearance Catford will make reasonable efforts to attend the Site at the agreed time. However, arrival times are estimates only and may be affected by factors such as traffic, weather, or other events beyond reasonable control.

House Clearance Catford will not be liable for any delay or failure to perform its obligations where such delay or failure is due to events or circumstances beyond its reasonable control, including but not limited to extreme weather conditions, road closures, accidents, strikes, or changes in law or regulation.

11. Service Standards and Complaints

House Clearance Catford aims to provide a professional and efficient waste collection and clearance service. If the Customer has any concerns about the quality of the Service, they should notify House Clearance Catford as soon as possible, providing details and any supporting information.

Complaints will be investigated and, where appropriate, House Clearance Catford may offer a remedy, such as a partial refund, a return visit, or an alternative solution. Any such remedy will be offered at the reasonable discretion of House Clearance Catford and subject to the circumstances of the case.

12. Liability and Limits of Liability

House Clearance Catford will exercise reasonable care and skill in providing the Services. However, liability for any loss or damage is subject to the limitations set out in this clause.

House Clearance Catford will not be liable for any loss or damage that arises as a result of:

Items being removed that were not clearly identified or separated by the Customer.

Pre-existing damage or defects at the Site or to items collected.

Failure by the Customer to comply with these Terms and Conditions.

Any indirect, consequential, or economic loss, including loss of profits, loss of business, or loss of opportunity, whether arising in contract, tort, or otherwise.

Nothing in these Terms and Conditions limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be limited or excluded under applicable law.

Subject to the above, the total liability of House Clearance Catford for any claim arising out of or in connection with the Services, whether in contract, tort, or otherwise, shall not exceed the total amount paid or payable by the Customer for the specific Service giving rise to the claim.

13. Waste Handling and Environmental Responsibility

House Clearance Catford is committed to lawful and responsible waste management. All waste collected will be transported and disposed of in accordance with relevant UK environmental and waste regulations.

Where possible, items will be reused, recycled, or recovered rather than sent to landfill. The Customer acknowledges that the final method of disposal will depend on the nature and condition of the waste and the availability of suitable facilities.

Once waste has been collected, title and responsibility for that waste pass to House Clearance Catford, subject to compliance with any relevant regulations and permits.

14. Compliance with Waste Regulations

House Clearance Catford will comply with applicable UK waste legislation and regulations, which may include holding relevant licences or registrations as a waste carrier. The Customer agrees not to request or require House Clearance Catford to act in any way that would cause a breach of these regulations.

The Customer confirms that they have lawful authority to request the removal of the waste from the Site and that the waste is not stolen or unlawfully obtained. House Clearance Catford reserves the right to decline or suspend the Service if there is any reasonable suspicion that waste may be unlawful or that removal may breach regulations.

15. Data Protection and Privacy

House Clearance Catford may collect and process personal data relating to the Customer for the purpose of managing bookings, providing Services, taking payment, and handling queries or complaints. Personal data will be handled in accordance with applicable data protection laws and used only for legitimate business purposes.

By placing a booking, the Customer consents to the use of their contact information for communication about the Service and any related administration.

16. Intellectual Property

All content, branding, and materials used by House Clearance Catford, including any written materials, images, or logos, remain the property of House Clearance Catford unless otherwise stated. No licence to use any intellectual property is granted to the Customer except as necessary for the normal use of the Services.

17. Variation of Terms

House Clearance Catford may update or amend these Terms and Conditions from time to time to reflect changes in law, business practices, or service offerings. The version of the Terms and Conditions in force at the time of the Customer's booking will apply to that booking.

18. Severability

If any provision of these Terms and Conditions is found to be invalid, unlawful, or unenforceable by a court or competent authority, that provision will be treated as deleted, but the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.

19. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms and Conditions and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them or the Services shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.

The courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction to settle any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with these Terms and Conditions or the Services provided by House Clearance Catford.

20. Entire Agreement

These Terms and Conditions constitute the entire agreement between House Clearance Catford and the Customer in relation to the provision of Services and supersede any prior discussions, correspondence, or understandings relating to the subject matter.

By booking a house clearance or waste collection service with House Clearance Catford, the Customer confirms that they have read, understood, and agree to these Terms and Conditions.
